My Third Weekend part 2/2

I would like to apologize for not updating my blog this week because I had my intensive finals on Thursday. Nevertheless, I am back to complete the second part of my 3rd weekend in Madrid.

Continue....

Friday night was not crazy but I had fun. I could not afford to be too crazy because the next day I was going to an excursion with ISA to Aranjuez, Chinchon and Alcala de Henares. I will blog about my excursion in my next entry but lets stay focus on the wonderful people, parties, and clubs that I have encountered during the weekend.

The next day, after returning from the excursion, I stayed awake and try not to even siesta. This is because I was exhausted and knowing myself, I would siesta until the next morning and miss the Saturday night fever of Madrid. I met Ryan and his friend Esther who is visiting Madrid at the clock tower in Sol at around 11.30pm. Our initial plan was to go to el tigere, a bar that is known offer free tapas with every purchase of a mug/pint of beer. On our way to the bar, we bump into Sara and a few other people from ISA. They told us that el tigere was packed and there is no way we are going to get in or order our drinks. Therefore, we made the decision to follow them to 100 Montaditos. This tapas bar is famous for offering 1 Euros for every single drink and tapas in the bar on Wednesdays. They have special promotions where when customers purchase a tapas, they are entitled to buy a mug of beer for only 1 Euro. Never in my life have I eaten such a tasty tortilla with chips. Tortilla is eggs, with potatoes and some onions fried in a pan. It tasted extremely good. When some of them like Cadia, Sara and a few of them left, I ordered another tortilla with another mug of beer. It is a cheap way to pre game before going into the expensive clubs in Madrid.

Pre-game at 100 Montaditos:

The pre-game of the night starts here... woohoo.. Sorry Ryan, i took half of your face.. No wonder Cadia has that weird face.

I had two sets of this in a night. 1 glass of beer and 1 mug of beer with two tortilla with chips.. No wonder I am gaining those extra pounds. :P

This is what usually happens during pre-game, everybody talks but hardly anybody drinks.. hahaha

I am sure Alex knows what this picture means. She has two of these mugs... :P

After the pregame, we decided that we should go to this place formally known as the Blackjack. However, the girls could not remember how to get there and we ended up going to Comma or a club that sounded something like that. All of us paid 7 Euros to get in but the music was horrible. The DJ really sucked at playing and mixing music. He was just mixing everything up, from techno to trance, from house to popular dance music. I had problems dancing to the music. Can you imagine that? Me having problems dancing!! But sadly that is true. I guess I was the only crazy one there in the club. When they played the song by LMFAO, Shots ft. Lil Jon, I screamed at the top of my lungs Shots, shots….shots. Everybody in the club was just staring at me. They could hear my voice. I am pretty sure that in their mind, they would say, “Ah.. these Americans are always so loud and obnoxious.” Hahahaha.. but gues what? I am not an Americano. Now back to the club’s sound system. Who could hear a person’s voice in a club when the music is turned on? But I guess not for this club. It was a pretty lousy club and the people were pretty old. Sorry Spaniards, I guess aging does affect you guys as well. After about 1 and a half of hours of trying to dance the club finally switched the lights on to signal the end of the party or should I say, to end the torturous music mix that the DJ was playing. At the mean time, half of the girls had left us and just disappeared. I guess the music scared them off, but at least they should have the courtesy to tell us that they are leaving and not dump us there to face the music all by ourselves.

Following the footsteps of the locals, we club hop from one club to another club and found out that Blackjack was just on the next street. FML. Since it is 4am in the morning, it cost us 10 Euros to get into Balckjack, I was tempted to bounce but what the heck, since I am trying to have fun in Madrid, I should not let a lousy club like Comma or what its name is, spoil my clubbing experience. When I finally made up my mind to pay the 10 Euros, I mumbled to myself, “Fuck it! Let’s just do it.” The bouncer heard me say that and told me, “Fuck it is muy mal (very bad). No fuck las chicas (the girls)!! No fuck it! Okay?” Hahahaha.. I guess he did not understand what I mean and took it in the literal sense. I just paid him and walked into the club.

In the second club with Ryan's Dutch friend Esther and my room mate Ryan himself. Of course not forgetting me...

This is how it looks like in the club. Notice how that Spaniard posed for the picture. It is definitely a fun place to be..

Cute girls from left Jordann, Esther, Stephanie and Jules. Wait a minute... just forget about Jordann he is the sexiest guy in the picture. :P

The music was pumping and an alto saxophonist accompanied the DJ. This is the first time in my life, where I heard a saxophonist playing in a club to crazy bomb dance music. It was definitely an experience. We are entitled to a free drink and I asked for Black Label whisky with coke. In Spanish, I swear I said this, “Yo quiero Black Label whisky con Coke, gracias (I want Black Label with Coke, thank you).” She brought a bottle of mini Pepsi out because the club had ran out of coke. That is fine with me because personally I prefer Pepsi to Coke. Then she filled the empty glass with ice, and took out a bottle of some lousy brand whisky and started pouring into my glass. I told her, “no, yo quiero Black Label, Black, Negro, Negro.” She replaced the glass with an empty glass and poured me Red Label now. I waved my hands like a crazy abandoned sailor as though I am stuck on an island and finally spotted a ship that could save me from the island that I was trapped for days. And I guess she finally understood that I wanted Johnnie Walker Black Label. To my disappointment, she told me that I had to pay an extra 1 Euro to have that drink. I was going to pay an additional 1 Euro when it cost me 10 Euros to get in. In most clubs in Madrid, entrance fee to a club usually includes a free drink. I gave her my coupon and settled for a Red Label whisky.

The waiter bring me my pepsi while she grabbed the white label for me.. I know it is pretty dark where you work but I am sure you definitely know the difference between Blanco and Negro in Spanish right?

The bar that changes color every few seconds...

I was really having fun, dancing and singing to the music. At around 6 in the morning, all of us just left the club due to exhaustion. While walking back, my housemate told me that he nearly got into a fight again in that club. Please don’t get me wrong. My house mate Ryan is a pretty calm person. But I guess it is just not his luck. The first time he nearly got into a fight was at the same club a week ago where a drunk Spaniard came up to him and started scolding him for having all the American girls to himself and said that he has to share it with the other guys in the club. Luckily, the Spaniard’s apologized and tried to pull his friend away. However, this time was slightly different but still it involves girls. Grace, another ISA student was pretty drunk in the club and she was dancing with Ryan. I guess it was not a good idea to dance near a table and she accidentally knocked down a couple of drinks belong to other people. The guy came up to Ryan and started pushing him and the girl slapped him across the face while speaking in Spanish. He was kind of drunk but at the same I could imagine he was pretty shocked to be slapped just for a couple of drinks. Luckily that was the time when were about to leave. I cannot believe it. I missed it twice. Hahahaha.. it was darn funny and I think it is something that he would remember for a long long time.

One of the marks close to the glass is Grace's injuries for bumping into a mirror and being clumsy.. hahahaha nearly got Ryan into trouble for her clumsiness.

The photos were from the second bar. I did not take any pictures at the first bar because I was so turned off by the music they were playing.
